CFC Legal Clinic Volunteer David Shain Honored by Ventura County Bar Association
David Shain, a highly respected attorney with Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP, Westlake Village/Ventura, has volunteered his professional expertise and personal time at CFC’s legal clinics for nearly 30 remarkable years.
He was recently selected by the Ventura County Bar Association as the 2014 recipient, Ben E. Nordman Public Service Award. This honor recognizes Shain’s longtime commitment to legal help for the underserved with the Volunteer Lawyer Services Program, the VCBA ProBono Committee, the Conejo Free Clinic legal clinics and many additional community volunteer activities.
All of us here at the CFC honor and thank David for his commitment to our clients who are painfully without access to legal care, are in great need of expert guidance and compassion and who look to the Conejo Free Clinic for help.
David is a past president of the Conejo Free Clinic Board of Directors, is an active member and past president of the Ventura County Bar Association, and is a board member and former president of the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association. In 1996, he co-founded the Volunteer Legal Services Program, which provides legal services for low-income residents of Ventura County.
Please enjoy a wonderful article written about David’s life and career by his colleague, Wendy Lascher. It was published in the November, 2014 edition of the Ventura County Bar Association’s Citations magazine.
In addition to 400 three-hour medical clinics held here each year, did you know the Conejo Free Clinic also sponsors about 50 legal clinics annually, also free of charge?
They are open the third Tuesday of each month and are made possible by outstanding legal professionals who selflessly volunteer to help people with numerous areas of the law….. including general/family, bankruptcy, landlord/tenant, wills, trusts and estates, immigration and personal injury.
